The decision to close school is made based on what is safe for children and for the staff. That does not change because we have fewer calamity days. Kings Mills Elementary was evacuated at approximately 10:40 this morning after cafeteria workers reported the gas was not working. Principal Peggy Phillips made the decision to evacuate the building as a precaution. An inspection from the fire department found that a valve was simply not turned on. Less than 15 minutes after the initial call to the fire department, the school was given the all clear for students to return to class. |
