New District Boundary Lines Approved by Kings BOE
The Kings Board of Education approved the proposed elementary boundary line changes at the February 16 meeting. This change will take effect beginning in the 2016-2017 school year. The proposed lines will make Socialville-Fosters Road the new district cut off between Kings Mills Elementary and J.F. Burns Elementary. Letters have been mailed to the approximately 140 students and families affected by the boundary line change.
There will be a Grandfather Option in effect only for the 2016-2017 school year and will also grandfather any siblings of incoming fourth grade students for one year. Anyone who chooses the grandfather option must provide their own transportation for that year. The grandfather option sheet will be available on our website, at our Central Registration Office, and KME, and is due on May 1, 2016.
We understand this will be a big transition for our students and their families. We have planned many activities to help make the transition as smooth as possible.
