Thanks For a Great Year!

Posted on: June 13, 2017

School’s out for the summer!  At least for our students, it is. However, the staff is busy at work already preparing for next school year. The custodial and maintenance crews are in many buildings cleaning out classrooms and fixing up the buildings. Our teachers are attending classes and workshops to improve their instructional skills, and the administrative staff is finalizing schedules and hiring staff.

This school year, a team of 30 employees including teachers and administrators worked to develop a strategic plan for the district that centers around teaching and learning.  I believe we have come up with some great strategies and the plan is to begin to slowly implement the #KingsStrong Strategic Plan with our teaching staff this coming fall.  I am really excited to watch our teachers collaborate with our students to RELATE. CREATE. & INNOVATE.

Our Kings High School Media Center/Learning Commons project is underway.  Construction began this week and our hope is for the project to be complete by the first day of school.  The Commons will feature breakout rooms, a maker space area, technology, books, and comfortable furniture.

I would like to thank those who took the time to take our inaugural surveys.  We will be analyzing your feedback this summer and look forward to seeing what we can do to make positive changes district-wide.

Finally, in late May, we graduated 306 students at our 182nd annual graduation ceremony. This year’s class was an awesome group of talented seniors. The class of 2017 continued a wonderful tradition of excellence at Kings.  And, as always, we look forward to welcoming our newest Kings Knights (Class of 2030) this fall.

Have a great summer!
