The Kings Board of Education has been working to search for the next leader of the Kings Local School District.

Their first step in the process was partnering with the Warren County Educational Service Center to facilitate the search process. The Board evaluated candidates based on the feedback received from stakeholder groups that included the community, parents, and staff. They also utilized a staff survey that asked for characteristics that they felt were most important for the next superintendent.

A total of 24 individuals applied for the Superintendent position. The Board evaluated the candidates based on the feedback they received and the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The Board has completed the first round of interviews and will be conducting the second round of interviews with two candidates on Wednesday, May 12.

The finalists for the position are as follows:

Mike Broadwater is the current Assistant Superintendent of Business Operations and Human Resources at Forest Hills Local School District. Prior to working as Forest Hills’ Assistant Superintendent, Mr. Broadwater was Principal of Anderson High School and Assistant Principal at Lakota East High School. He began his career in education working as a mathematics and computer science teacher for 13 years at North Royalton High School. He also served as Summer School Principal at North Royalton City School District for five years.

Greg Sears is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning for Forest Hills Local School District. Prior to working at Forest Hills, Mr. Sears served the Mason City School District as the Intermediate Campus Principal for 10 years. He also served as an assistant principal and assistant athletic director at Mason. Mr. Sears began his teaching career as a Biology teacher with Madeira City Schools.
