Kindergarten Entrance Date (2026-2027 School Year)

With the signature from Governor DeWine on December 19, 2025, House Bill 114 is official. House Bill 114 establishes a uniform kindergarten age requirement (age 5 by the first day of school) instead of districts using either August 1 or September 30 as a cutoff date.

2026-2027 Cutoff Date

For the 2026-2027 school year, Kings Local School District will use August 13 as the cutoff date for kindergarten. All kindergarteners must be 5 years old by August 13, 2026 in order to attend. This date will fluctuate yearly depending on the first day of school.

Kindergarten registration opens March 9, 2026.
